Tamás Gender Junior made his debut for Energy Corse in Cremona, at the last round of the WSK Super Master Series. Based on the results on the track, the young karting driver, who made his debut weekend with his new team managed to qualify for the Final.
At this year’s fourth and final round of the WSK Super Master Series, Tamás Gender Junior made his debut for his new team. The new Energy Corse driver has already taken part in one test with the team but this was the first time the two had competed together in race conditions.
Tamás Junior, who quickly settled into the team, started the weekend in the OKJ category among 81 drivers. After finishing 24th in his group in Qualifying, he finished the first two Heats on Friday in 27th and 21st positions and looked forward to the rest of the weekend from there.
‘We had a rainy day on Saturday, so the weather didn’t favour us. I didn’t get a good start in the first and third qualifying session of the day and then I had an accident. I tried to avoid contact but I couldn’t, so my bumper fell in,’ said the HUMDA-supported driver, summing up the second day’s events.
‘As for Sunday, it was better: I improved ten places in the Pre-Final, although this time I also had an accident that caused my bumper to fall in. Despite fighting my way to the Final, the penalty meant that I was not able to take part in the Final.’
‘Overall, I enjoyed my first weekend of racing with my new team, gained valuable experience and I’m motivated for the next race, which will take place this week in Trinec. Thanks to my coach Antonio Galluccio and Energy Corse for their work and to everyone for cheering me on!”
Tamás Gender Junior will therefore continue his season in the Czech Republic, where he will compete in this year’s second round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series from 4 to 6 May.
