Just like in the first round in Valencia, Martin Molnár made it to the final in the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship in Trinec, but he couldn’t finish it because one of his tyres got a puncture.
Last weekend, Martin Molnár competed in the second round of the FIA European Karting Championship at the International Steel Ring in Trinec, Czech Republic. The Hungarian kart driver from Energy Corse, competing in the OK category. During the heats, he finished in the top ten three times, achieving seventh place once and sixth place twice. In the Prefinal he faced technical issues, but as in the first round of this year’s European Championship in Valencia, he made it to the Final, but unfortunately did not finish because one of his tyres got a puncture right after the start.
“My pace seemed good at the start of the weekend, but it wasn’t perfect with the tyres I used in qualifying,” began the Hungarian Motorsport Academy supported driver. – After that, the first heat was still challenging, but in the second one I managed to improve positions. There were more heats on Saturday and we had a good day. I had some technical problems at the beginning, but then the team and I worked hard and my pace improved a bit. I’m happy with the 6th place in the last two heats, especially as I was racing with used tyres in the last one, unlike others.”
These things happen, it’s just the way it turned out this time. Thank you to my team, my coach Antonio Gallucci, my mechanic Andrea Terron, Machach Motors for the engine, and the support from the Hungarian Motorsport Academy. We’ll keep moving forward. Martin will have a short break now, as there is no race this weekend, but there will be one next week. The Energy Corse driver will compete in this year’s third round of Champions of the Future Euro Series in Rodby, Denmark, from 1 to 3 June.
