Tamás Gender Junior competed in the first round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series in Valencia, where he returned from an injury and performed well in the field of more than 80 participants.
There was some uncertainty surrounding the participation of Tamás Gender Junior in the first round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series held in Valencia, as the Parolin Racing Kart driver suffered a rib injury a week earlier. But the 12-year-old travelled to the Kartodromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Spain, where the first free practice session showed that he could drive, although his injury was not yet completely healed.
The HUMDA-supported driver completed the entire weekend in the 85-strong OKJ field, eventually making it to the Super Heat. A crash prevented him from achieving the result he could have, but he still improved his starting position.
“Friday brought exciting battles and good starts, and my pace was also good – began Tamás Gender Junior his evaluation. – I managed to carry over the good starts to Saturday and had big battles in the three heats. In the first one, I was pushed off in the chicane after the start, which dropped me to the back of the field, but I managed to climb back a few places. In the second and third heats, I started well and made it up to 11th place, but my pace wasn’t great, so a few people passed me back.”
“As for Sunday, the last day, I made another good start in the Super Heat and together with the team we were able to improve the pace, but in turn eight, while I was overtaking, an accident happened in front of me, which I could only avoid by running off the track. This dropped me back to the back of the field, but I still finished five places ahead of where I started.”
“I’m glad that despite my rib injury from the last race weekend, I was able to race in Valencia, which was a great opportunity to gain experiences for the first round of the European Championship which will also be held on the same track in less than two weeks. I am grateful to my mechanic, Raffaele Polisé, my coach, Felice Tiené, Parolin Racing Kart, as well as HUMDA, Apex Instituto, and Fit4Race for this past weekend.”
So the continuation awaits to Tamás Gender Junior in Valencia, where he will compete in the first round of the European Championship between March 24 and 26.
