Levente Losonczy was excited about TCR Europe’s Hungaroring round
From 16th to 18th June, prestigious touring and formula car races took place at Hungaroring. Alongside the International GT Open, drivers from TCR Europe and Formula Regional by Alpine also took part. Levente Losonczy, representing Aggressive Team Italia, competed in the TCR Europe
Before the race, Levi summarized his experiences in an interview and told us why the Hungaroring is special to him as a racing circuit.
“During my Clio Cup career, I have stood on the podium several times at the Hungaroring, and I made my debut in the TCR category here last year. Despite racing extensively abroad, I truly consider the Hungaroring as my home track. It has a nearly 40-year history as a Formula 1 circuit, and competing here is always a very special experience.”

The fourth round of the TCR Europe championship, which also marked the final European venue of the World Tour, took place at another Grand Prix circuit, the Hungaroring. Thanks to its reputation, a strong field of competitors gathered, including Levente Losonczy from Aggressive Team Italia.
Even though the Hungaroring is Levente’s home track, one of the main tasks with the Hyundai Elantra N TCR is to gain experience at every venue. This was not helped this time by the fact that one of the two free practice sessions on Friday was washed away by rain, leaving the drivers with essentially 30 minutes of practice on a dry track.
Levente also faced two big challenges this weekend: one of his mentors from the Hungarian Motorsport Academy, Norbert Michelisz, also took to the track, and Kevin Ceccon, the former Auto GP champion and TCR Italy runner-up, joined him on the grid representing Aggressive Team Italia.
On Sunday, the second race started at 12:05, but unfortunately, it only lasted for a few meters. Coming out of turn 1, there was an accident involving Dušan Borković and Norbert Michelisz, and Levente collided with Viktor Davidovski’s car unintentionally as he tried to avoid the spinning cars. Levente managed to return to the pit with the damaged car, but there was no opportunity to continue the race this time.
In terms of results, the Hungaroring was not kind to the Hungarian drivers, but Levente was grateful to the fans for their support.
Illustrious guests, unlucky start
On Sunday, a real competitive atmosphere greeted the teams and the growing crowd. The Hungarian Motorsport Academy driver was welcomed by Zoltán Szujó, President of the Hungarian National Autosport Association, and was also visited by the famous singer-actress Lola, who was also a guest of Aggressive Team Italia for a guided tour.
The MOTAM team was also there to support and cheer for Levi.
Tamás Gender Junior started immediately in the front with an unknown engine
At the Italian circuit in Franciacorta, Tamás Gender Junior had to deal with an unfamiliar engine and tires, despite being familiar with the track. The racer participating in the sixth round of the Italian IAME series and quickly found the rhythm.
Tamás Gender Junior competed in the sixth round of the Italian IAME series last weekend in Franciacorta. Competing in the X30 Junior category, the athlete was only familiar with the track, as he had to deal with both the X30 engine and the tyres to get up to speed with the 51-strong field. After Thursday’s test, the Forza Racing driver started Friday’s free practice in the 11th place and then moved into the lead in the qualifying as he finished 3rd in his group and 3rd overall.
Tamás Gender Junior was able to start from the second row of the starting grid in the three heats, and already in the first one he showed that he can compete with the best not only in qualifying, but also in the race. He finished in the 8th place, but as the bumper of his kart fell in, he was classified in the 16th place after a penalty.
The next day, the top 10 result was indeed achieved, but unfortunately, it couldn’t be repeated in the third heat due to an accident involving the Hungarian karting driver. As a result, their kart was damaged, and he had to give up the fight. However, he still made it to the Prefinal and after an initial setback he finished in the 16th place. He passed seven of his rivals, but got a penalty which dropped him back to the 22nd position, where he finished the Franciacorta round of the IAME series.
Tamás Gender Jr. also participated in the second round of the Italian karting championship at La Conca before the Franciacorta round. He quickly found his rhythm: on Friday, during the free practice sessions held on the wet track, he won one of them and achieved the second-best time in another. Although his kart slid at the rear during the qualifying session, which was now on a dry track, he managed to start well from the 13th position on Saturday. Thanks to this, he secured a 5th place and an 8th place during the two heats.
On Sunday, he had two races left in which he also had a very good start and pace, but both ended in crashes after a rival pulled the wheel on him both times while overtaking.
Molnár Martin competed in the FIA Karting European Championship at Rødby
He showed good pace, but Martin Molnár’s European Championship in Denmark ended with a crash.
Martin Molnár was flagged off in sixth place twice during the third race weekend of the FIA Karting European Championship. However, an accident and a technical issue hindered the progress of the Energy Corse karting driver in Rodby, Denmark. Martin had previously familiarized himself with the track two weeks earlier during the round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, and he was able to put his experience to good use in the European Championship. But this did not always guarantee a good result.
In Friday’s qualifying session, Martin Molnár achieved the 7th fastest time in his group, securing his starting position for the first heat of the weekend. However, while running in 6th place during the heat, his engine stalled and he had to retire from the race. To make matters worse, he was also hit from behind. In the following races, he had to compete with the reserve engine. Despite this setback, he showed good pace in the Saturday heats, earning two 6th-place finishes and two 9th-place finishes. However, the continuation on Sunday didn’t go as well. After finishing in the 17th place in the Prefinal, he was involved in a crash in the Final and had nowhere to go, which meant that the race ended early for him.
Following that, Martin will participate in the Champions of the Future Euro Series race in Cremona.
